A large crowd attended a rally for President Donald Trump and other Republican candidates on the Louisa Circuit Courthouse lawn on Sept. 16.
Speakers included Nick Freitas, who is challenging Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger for her seat representing Louisa and the 7th Congressional District. Also present was Wendy Gade, the wife of U.S. Senate hopeful Daniel Gade, who is running against two-term incumbent Democratic Sen. Mark Warner.
Conservative radio host John Fredericks gave remarks, along with Jim Herring, a Henrico County resident who was actively involved in planning the 7th district Republican convention in Caroline County in July.
A deejay provided musical entertainment from the courthouse steps, including a recording of "M.A.G.A," set to the tune of The Village People's 1978 hit song "Y.M.C.A." The Louisa Republican Committee, which organized the rally in coordination with the Republican National Committee, helped people to register to vote.
Other speakers included Louisa County Supervisor Duane Adams and Louisa County Sheriff Donald Lowe, who briefly held a sign for "Cops for Trump."
Freitas, Adams and Lowe will also be speaking at the Louisa Back the Badge Rally and Walk, scheduled on Sept. 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. That event will start at 215 Church Ave. in the town of Louisa. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
