Carolyn Spicer Heckman, 80, of Fredericksburg passed away on Sunday April 25, 2021, after a long battle with cancer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, H.E. Spicer and Dorothy C. Spicer, of Mineral; sister, Martha Spicer Daltan, of Fredericksburg; and husband, Charles R. “Chuck” Heckman, of Fredericksburg.
Carolyn is survived by her sister, Jo Ann Spicer Adams, of Atlanta, Georgia; a nephew, William S. Adams, of Seattle, Washington; a niece, Ashley Daltan Vavasour, of Austin, Texas; a nephew, Michael T. Daltan, of Fredericksburg; a step-daughter, Christa Heckman Hudson; and granddaughter, Schuyler A. Hudson, both of Fredericksburg; and several great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
She will be remembered by many friends in the downtown Fredericksburg area for her passion and extensive knowledge of antiques and jewelry. She was the proud owner and operator of Upstairs Downstairs Antiques on Caroline Street for over 25 years. Prior to retiring in 2014, she could be found most days working with “Sadie,” her faithful canine sidekick. Carolyn and her late husband, Chuck, were very active downtown residents and they loved frequenting and supporting other local area businesses.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Covenant Funeral Home at 4801 Jefferson Davis Highway, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22408 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
