Charles Champion Bowles Jr.

Charles Champion Bowles, Jr, born March 12, 1934, in Goochland County, Virginia, son of C. Champion Bowles, Sr., Judge of the Circuit Court of Goochland County, and Helen Hume Bowles, passed away November 25, 2021 at the age of 87.

Champ, also fondly called Charlie, served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After serving his country, Champ enrolled in and graduated from the University of Richmond. He served as principal of Apple Grove School in Louisa County for one year and returned to the University of Richmond T. C. Williams School of Law, graduating in 1965. Champ practiced law in Louisa for over 40 years before retiring to his home, Dunlora, with his wife of 61 years, Katie Lou Simmons Bowles.

Champ was predeceased by his mother and father and two sisters, Dorothea Bowles Gentry and Jenniereva Bowles Gouldman.Champ is survived by his wife, Katie; son, Charles Edward Anderson Bowles; two grandsons, Charles Anderson Bowles and Matthew Edward Bowles; sister, Helen Bowles Miller (Dave), and several nieces and nephews.  

Funeral services were held at South Anna Baptist Church, 9071 Cross County Road, Mineral, Virginia on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Visitation was at 1:00 p.m. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m.
