Dearold L. Sherman, 63, of Bumpass passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from complications related to a kidney transplant.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dearold L Sherman; beloved mother, Margaret Hostetler; son Timothy Dearold Sherman; and nephew David New.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Terry Sherman; one brother, Robert Leroy Sherman; five sisters, Vicky Hosmer, Linda Sherman, Lorretta Gibson (Steve), Judy Hostetler, and Mary Tiller (Doug); two children, Melissa Sherman (TC) and Joshua Sherman; seven grandchildren, Thomas Dearold Clune, Sarah Clune, Chase Proffitt, Brayden Blankenship, Preston Sherman, Joshua Dearold Sherman, and Jaxson Sherman; and many nieces and nephews he loved spending time with.
Dearold was a proud Navy veteran and took pride in his 20 years of service and reminiscing with his shipmates. After retiring from the Navy, Dearold went to work as a boiler mechanic at the University of Richmond until he retired. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends as often as he could. He was very active in his grandchildren’s lives and he was best known to them as Paypa. He also enjoyed taking them fishing, swimming and riding on his boat every chance he could.
We had a visitation on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with graveside services immediately following at his home located at 1253 Signboard Road, Bumpass. Online guestbook at lacyfh.com.
