James Coley Thacker, 80, of Kents Store, died Sunday, July 25, 2021 in Charlottesville. Born June 5, 1941, he was the son of the late Lewis L. Thacker and Lillian Gammon Thacker. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Joyce Thacker, his sister, Geraldine Wright and a brother, Ernest Thacker. Mr. Thacker was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Tabscott and he worked for many years as a carpenter and home bulider for over 50 years. He was the first owner of Thacker and Thacker Construction Company. 

He is survived by a daughter, Pamela G. Patrick of Mineral; two sons, Doug Thacker and wife Anita of Kents Store; Donald L. Thacker and wife Christie of Kents Store; one brother, Harry Thacker of Louisa; three grandchildren, Patricia Vaughan; Jamie Thacker and wife Vanessa; Katherine Addington and husband Timothy; four great-grandchildren, Andrew Vaughan; BreAnna Thacker; Paul Addington; Lewis Addington; three step- great-grandchildren, Sarah Martyn; Austin Williams, Hunter Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa with Pastor David Palmer officiating.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of the Piedmont and Mrs. Eunice Hensley for all of their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Louisa County Animal Shelter.
