Lloyd L. Sims

Lloyd L. Sims, 83, of Mineral has gained his wings to heaven. He was born in 1936 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late John O. and Roxie Lane Sims. 

He leaves behind his wife, Betty Presley Sims; three children, Joan Johnston (Mike), Randy Sims (Sharon) and Danny Sims (Paula); grandchildren, Amanda Sims, Erin Sims Shaffer (Matt), Brian Johnston (Lisa), Patrick Sims (Avelyn), Corey Sims (Courtney), Morgan Johnston (Samantha) and Bram Sims; great-grandchildren, Haleigh, Olivia and Keegan Shaffer and Patterson, Kaylee and Jace Johnston; brothers, Kenneth (Joyce) and Walter (Wilma), both of Tennesee. 

A builder by trade, he was an owner of Sims Construction.

Lloyd was a man of faith, ordained a deacon in 1962. He taught Sunday school preschoolers in earlier years. More recently he was a faithful member of Mineral Baptist Church where he served at maintaining the buildings and grounds and doing projects with a motorcycle ministry.

Lloyd and Betty enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad. They served as volunteers to missionaries in Mexico, Arizona, Pennsylvania, St. Lucia, Costa Rica and Slovakia. In 1989, Lloyd led a team of men in Tanzania, Africa to roof churches in the bush. 

Lloyd was a devoted family man that loved family gatherings. He was an avid softball player and chosen MVP in church leagues. A highlight in recent years was a trip to Israel, where he walked where Jesus walked here on earth. Now he is in heaven with Jesus!
