Vandellia Monroe Johnson, 73, of Mineral departed this life on Friday, June 26, 2020 in the Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville after a brief illness. 

She was born February 13, 1947 in Louisa County to the late Walter M. Monroe and Evely C. Monroe Johnson. She attended school in Louisa County where she received her formal education. 

She met and married James Henry Johnson and to this union four children were born, all of whom survive her: one daughter, Vandellia Monroe Houchens (John) of Mineral; three sons, James H. Johnson Jr. of Manassas, Mark Arthur Johnson (Barbara) of Charlottesville and Mario A. Johnson (Brenda) of Hanover; one brother, Meredith Walter Monroe (Melina) of Mineral; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on July 3 at the Laurel Hill Baptist Church cemetery where Pastor Barry Carpenter officiated. Satchell’s Funeral Services of Orange was in charge of arrangements.
