Jon and Stephanie Koren are the owners of Lake Anna Tractor and Hardware at the corner of Chopping Road and Zachary Taylor Highway in Mineral. The couple is eager to serve customers’ hardware, equipment and repair needs, and looks forward to giving back to the community in other ways.
The Korens bought the former Tractor Hill Equipment business in 2017. They look forward to many years of serving the community’s hardware, lawn and farm equipment and repair needs.
In 2018, the Korens’ first full year owning the business, sales increased by nearly 10 percent. Lake Anna Tractor and Hardware also broke sales records for Scag mowers and Woods implements.
The Korens retained most of the incumbent staff and hired five additional employees. They also added an apprentice from the Louisa County High School Career and Technical Education program to the team.
Both of the Korens have extensive business backgrounds. Stephanie has previously worked in the federal courts and sold and leased corporate and commercial jets internationally. She is also a former Mineral district representative on the Louisa County Board of Supervisors.
The garden center offers a variety of mulch, fertilizer, topsoil, grass seed and more. Customers have several mower brands to select from, including Scag, Kioti and Echo mowers. Zero percent financing is available on tractors, mowers and implements.
Over time and regular use, equipment eventually needs repair. The staff of highly trained mechanics is able to service every tractor, lawnmower and weed eater that they sell, as well as other brands including John Deere, Troy Bilt and Cub Cadet.
The Korens were named the 2019 Louisa County Chamber of Commerce Businesspersons of the Year.
“We were humbled and honored at the same time,” Jon said. “We have a pretty high focus on working with the community, not only as a business, but in contributing and working with different organizations in the community.”
