Several former Louisa Lions saw action on the gridiron over the past weekend.

Former Louisa running back Jarett Hunter ran for a team-high 93 yards over 12 carries during the Howard University Bisons’ game against the University of Richmond Spiders on Sept. 4. Hunter also caught three passes for 35 yards. Howard lost 35-14. During his freshman season, Hunter played in two games, during which he totaled 72 rushing yards over 17 carries and pulled down seven passes for 114 yards

Junior linebacker Brandon Smith tallied eight tackles, including one tackle for a loss for the Penn State Nittany Lions in their 16-10 win over Wisconsin. Six of Smith’s tackles were solo efforts. Smith has notched a total of 59 tackles for Penn State since joining the team in 2019, including 29 solo tackles and 11 tackles for a loss.

Alex Washington saw some action for William and Mary during the Tribe’s season opener against the University of Virginia Cavaliers. Washington tallied one tackle for the Tribe. UVA won the game 45-0. Washington tallied four tackles in his freshman season (two solo and two assists), including one tackle for loss.
