The Louisa Gators closed out their 2022 season at the Jefferson Swim League Championships on July 29-30. Several individual swimmers and a number of relay teams earned top 10 finishes throughout the meet.
Ellie Robbins earned the Gators’ highest individual place finish with a third-place performance in the girls’ eight-and-under 25-yard butterfly race, earning a time of 21.26 seconds. John Robbins earned a ninth-place finish in the boys’ six-and-under 25-yard freestyle with a time of 29.97 seconds.
Dyllan Hartman finished in the top 10 in a trio of races in the boys’ 15-18 age group: the 100-yard freestyle (7th), 50-yard freestyle (10th) and 50-yard butterfly (7th), with respective times of 50-96 seconds, 23.21 seconds and 24.47 seconds. Brody Spangler also earned a top 10 finish, taking 10th in the boys’ 11-12 50-yard backstroke with a time of 34.99 seconds.
Both Hartman and Spangler also swam on relay teams that finished in the top 10. Spangler joined Connor Stanton, Matt Keller and Holden Pekary on the boys’ 11-12 200-yard medley relay team, which finished seventh with a time of 2:40.65. Hartman raced with Taylen Soriano, Larson Moreno and Tanner Jenkins on the boys’15-18 200-yard medley relay team, finishing seventh with a time of 1:57.10. Stanton, Keller and Pekary also swam in the 200-yard freestyle relay, along with David Weidow. The team finished 10th with a time of 2:36.62.
The Gators also earned top 10 finishes in the girls’ 9-10 200-yard medley relay (10th 3:23.85), girls’ 15-18 200-yeard medley relay (10th, 2:19.80), girls’ 15-18 200-yard freestyle relay (8th, 2:07.50), boys’ 15-18 200-yard freestyle relay (8th, 1:50.56) and the boys’ 13-14 200-yard freestyle relay (7th, 2:08.83).
“Our kids swam hard and had 92 time improvements,” said coach Debra Bickley. “The Gator swimmers showed unbelievable progress this year and we are so proud of all of them.”
