Louisa alum contributes to college championship win

Former Louisa Lion Sarah Proctor rounds third and heads for home during the second game of the NCAA Division III World Series final on May 31.

Louisa County High School alum Sarah Proctor has spent the past four seasons playing softball for Christopher Newport University and last week, she and the Captains wrapped the 2022 season in style, winning the school’s first-ever national championship with a 3-0 victory over Trine University in the second game of the NCAA Division III World Series.

The Captains won the best-of-three series on May 31, following a 6-3 win over Trine the day before. Proctor scored runs in both games, crossing the plate as part of a fifth-inning grand slam from Kaitlyn Hasty in game one and again for the third and final run of game two, part of a two-run RBI double from Maddie Hool.
