Louisa boys' place third in Ragged Mountain Cup

The Louisa County High School cross country teams kicked off their season at the 2021 Ragged Mountain Cup on Sept. 7. The two-mile relay race was held at Pnorama Farms in Earlysville.

Senior Nick Emmert ran the course in nine minutes, 46 seconds, earning the second fastest time of the day behind Woodberry Forest’s Fernec Kovacs. Caiden Davenport brought home a top 10 finish for the Lions, placing ninth with a time of 10:45. William Moore ran his leg of the race in 10:49, finishing 11tt, and Talen Soriano rounded out the team score with a 33rd place finish, running the course in 11:40. The four runners combined for a time of 43:02, placing third with a score of 55 points.

Louisa also fielded a second boys’ team for the race. Gavin Myers ran the course in 12:37 for a 72nd place finish. Brandon Wallace and Patrick Moore finished 96th and 97th with respective times of 13:24 and 13:27, and Addison Claussen rounded out the team score, placing 105th with a time of 14:06. The team earned a score of 370.

The Lions fielded only one team in the girls’ race. Kennedy Harris finished 14th with a time of 13:24, followed by Maeve myers in 27th with a time of 14:49. Alison Soriano (14:56) and Caroline Chapman (16:03) rounded out the Lions’ score with respective 29th and 44th place finishes. The team finished seventh with a combined time of 59:11.

The Lions head to Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville on Sept. 11 for their next meet. Races begin at 8:20 a.m.
