Louisa golf team plays in regional tourney

The Louisa Lions golf team traveled to Hidden Valley Country Club in Salem on Sept. 27 for the Virginia High School League Region 4D tournament. Louisa ended the day with a team score of 372.

Emma Zelaski was the Lions’ low scorer, shooting a 87 on the 18-hole course. Lee Sisk carded 92, followed by Evan Straley with 93. Connor Downey shot 100 to round out the team score. Lewis French and Ashton Rollins also played for Louisa, carding respective scores of 108 and 109.

Blacksburg won the team competition with a score of 287, followed by Salem with 295. Blacksburg’s David Zhang and Samantha Skinner and Salem’s Katheryn Ha each shot 69 to earn co-medalist honors.

The Western Albemarle Warriors finished third with a team score of 305, led by a 71 from Luke Vance who advances to the Class 4 state tournament. The Orange County Hornets also competed in the touranment, earning a team score of 351.

The tournament marked the end of the Lions 2021 season.

“It was an enjoyable year and I had a great time with this group of student athletes,” said Coach Neal Moubray.
