Louisa Lions win regional opener

The Louisa Lions boys' basketball team opened their Region 4B tournament bid with a strong case, defeating the George Wythe Bulldogs 66-52 in The Den. 

Louisa opened the game with an 8-0 run and held on to lead 25-20 after the first quarter. They extended their lead to 42-32 at halftime and never looked back.

Senior Xavien Hunter led the team with 19 points, followed by junior Mahlik Munnerlyn with 16. Seniors Jarett Hunter and Isaac Haywood also hit double digits with Hunter scoring 15 points and Haywood adding 10.

The Lins now advance to the Region 4B semifinals on Feb. 28, where they'll take on the Monacan Chiefs at Monacan at 7:30 p.m.
