One round down: Lions demolish Jefferson Forest in Regional playoff opener

The first round of the Region 4-D playoffs began last week in the Jungle, as the home team got the opportunity to flex their muscles in their most important game of the year. Another late schedule change due to the impending weather resulted in the Louisa Lions having the opportunity to partake in some Thursday night football. However, it did not deter thousands of fans from pouring into the stadium and all along the hillside to get a glimpse of the action. One less day of preparation also did not seem to affect the home team whatsoever, as the Lions took down the Jefferson Forest Cavaliers rather easily with a 47-13 victory.

The second-seeded Lions had little trouble with Jefferson Forest last week in the first round of the Region 4D football playoffs. The Lions, behind Savion Hiter, demolished the visitors 47-13, setting up this week’s rematch with Salem at the Jungle.

The Lions wasted no time getting on the board; taking the lead over the Cavaliers barely a minute into the game. It took a mere 3 plays for Louisa’s freshman running back Savion Hiter to break off a 65 yard run for a Touchdown. “Yeah I was a little tired after that one,” said Hiter. “I just relied on my blockers, hit the hole and that was it.
