Louisa County High School’s track teams had a strong showing Saturday at the Gus Lacy Track Classic at Fork Union Military Academy.
The Lions’ girls (113.5) finished third in a close meet, just behind second-place Western Albemarle (115) and Norfolk Academy (122).
The boys were fourth (74) with Norfolk Academy winning the boys’ meet (107), followed by host Fork Union (98) and Western Albemarle (80).

The girls won two events and had eight top-three finishes with those placing in the top eight earning team points.
Taylor Waddy won the shotput (33’ 10”) and was second in the discus (97’ 11”).
Meanwhile, the girls’ 4 x 400 relay team (Elizabeth Middlesworth, Nicole Creel, Sandra Davenport and Hannah Ryan) finished first (4:19.95).
Angel David was second in the 100 hurdles (18.16) with Marion Zimmerman third (18.48). David also placed second in the triple jump (33’ 11.75”) and third in the 300 hurdles (51.70).
David, Anari Harris, Dana Freimane and Arianna Jones teamed to finish third in the 4 x 100 relay (52.46).
Others contributing scoring performances included: Jones (fifth in the 200 and sixth in both the 100 and 800); Davenport (fourth in the 400); Creel (eighth in the 400); Kennedy Harris (eighth in the 3200); Zimmerman (fifth in the 300 hurdles); Ryan (fourth in the high jump); Harris (fifth in the high jump); Freimane (fifth in the long jump and seventh in the high jump); David (eighth in the long jump); Langley Amiss (fourth in the discus); and Makayla Clark (fourth in the shot put).
The boys won one event and had five top-three finishes Saturday against a strong field.
Savion Hiter won the long jump (22’) and finished third in the 100 meters (11.29).
Hayden Ribbentrop was second in the 300 hurdles (43.40) and Justin Davenport was third in the pole vault (12’).
The boys’ 4 x 800 relay team of William Moore, Wyatt Snyder, Nathaniel Wilson and Hayden Pugh finished second (8:49.41).
Others contributing scoring performances included: Wilson (sixth in the 400); Moore (fifth in the 800); Ribbentrop (fifth in the 110 hurdles); Snyder (fifth in the triple jump); Colin King (fifth in the pole vault); Amir Guthrie (fourth in the discus); Jayden Thompson (fifth in the shot put); and Devonte Anderson (fifth in the discus and seventh in the shot put).

Louisa County swept their first outdoor mini-invite last Wednesday with the Lion girls amassing 153.5 points and the boys 127.5, each easily outdistancing second-place Fluvanna (73.5 and 96 points, respectively). Orange County’s boys finished third (76), while Cumberland (69) placed third in the girls’ meet.
The Louisa girls won six events, while the boys took nine.
Savion Hiter won the long jump (22’ 11.25”) and the 100 (11.21). Jayden Thompson won the shot put (40’ 11”) and Justin Davenport won the pole vault (11’ 6”). William Moore took the 800 (2:05.22) with Hayden Pugh close behind in second (2:06.78). Moore also won the 1600 (4:52.88). Hayden Ribbentrop won the 300 hurdles (44.30), with the Lions’ 4 x 400 relay team (3:38.24) and 4 x 800 relay team (9:26.65) each took first.
Colin King (10’ 6”) and Jackson Klapak (10’) finished second and third, respectively, behind Davenport in the pole vault. Devonte Anderson (119’ 11”) was second in the discus, while Amir Guthrie (102’ 5”) was third. Hunter Matney (40’ 3”) was third in the shot put. Wyatt Snyder finished third in the triple jump (40’ 5”) and Ribbentrop was third in the 110 hurdles (17.00). Gavin Myers finished third in the 3200 (10:50.75) and in the 1600 (4:58.10).
Arianna Jones won the 200 (27.01) and Maeve Myers took first in the 1600 (5:45.05). Dana Freimane won the triple jump (33’ 2”) just ahead of Angel David (33’ 1”) and Ianna Frederick (32’ 7”) as the Lions swept the top three spots. Taylor Waddy took the shot put (36’ 2.5”), while the Lions’ 4 x 400 (4:25.71) and 4 x 800 (11:49.01) relay teams each won. The 4 x 100 relay team (52.44) finished second.

Elizabeth Middlesworth was second in the 400 (1:03.63), followed by Sandra Davenport in third (1:04.65). Myers was second in the 800 (2:35.71), while Kennedy Harris was second in the 1600 (5:46.39) and the 3200 (12:41.68). Brooklyn Nemec finished third (13:52.32). Angel David (17.97) and Marion Zimmerman (18.09) finished second and third, respectively, in the 100 hurdles, while Angel David was second in the 300 hurdles (51.81). David was third in the long jump (15’ 1.5”) and Anari Harris was third in the high jump (4’ 10”). Hannah Ryan was second in the pole vault (8’), while Waddy took second in the discus (103’ 6”), followed by Langley Amiss (79’ 5”) in third.
The Lions host their second mini-invite next Wednesday before heading to the Dogwood Track Classic Friday at the University of Virginia’s Lannigan Field.
