Frances Byers

Frances May West Byers, (111 years old) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 7, 2026, at Our Lady of Hope in Henrico County, Virginia.

Frances was preceded in death by her father Hugh Spotswood West Sr. mother Addie May Hall West and her husband John Franklin (Frank) Byers Sr.

She had 7 children; Thomas Cody Byers (deceased) (wife Sally), Annie Lee Stanley (husband Travis-both deceased), Doris Allen (husband Ted-deceased), John F. Byers Jr. (wife Lucille-deceased), Adeline Albert (husband Lawrence-deceased), Paul S. Byers (deceased), Dan Byers (wife Nancy).

Frances was born in Hanover County Virginia on January 23, 1915, and lived several years at Scotchtown, the home of Patrick Henry, Virginia’s first Governor. She was a charter and lifelong Member of Emmanuel Holiness Church, in Louisa County, Virginia and a lifelong volunteer for numerous causes. Frances has been celebrated as one of the oldest members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She touched numerous lives thru her volunteerism and Christian Example. She was a celebrated student the Holy Bible and her understanding of God’s Word enabled her to be an effective witness to people throughout the country.

Visitation was held on September 11, 2026, between the hours of 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at Hopeful Baptist Church, 14340 Hopeful Church Road, Montpelier, Virginia.

A Private Funeral Service will be at Emmanuel Holiness Church, Montpelier, Virginia with Rev. Terry Gilbert officiating.
