GoFundMe helps family of recent Lake Anna death

Andrew Glen Knight, a 35-year-old Mineral resident, drowned April 7 at Lake Anna after a kayaking accident about 50 feet from shore. Knight leaves behind three young children and a fiancee who is pregnant with their fourth. A GoFundMe with over 100 donations has raised over $7,000 as of April 14.
In an interview with 12 On Your Side, Lacey Tustin, his fiancee, shared that she never expected she would be raising four children alone. She had been in the water with Knight and their two boys just hours before the tragedy. Reportedly, neither Knight or his six-year-old son on the kayak had a life jacket on. A Good Samaritan was able to save the boy, but not Knight.
Deputies from the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) were dispatched to the Lakeview Drive Common area at 8:05 p.m. for a report of a possible drowning involving an overturned kayak. Deputes from the LCSO, along with Fire and EMS personnel, responded to the scene. The Spotsylvania County Dive Team was requested to assist with search operations and after one hour of search efforts, Knight was located and pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident remains under active investigation.
In a LCSO press release, Sheriff Donald Lowe stated, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Knight family and all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy. We are grateful to the citizens and first responders who acted quickly in an effort to assist. We ask that the community keep the family in their thoughts during this very difficult time. This incident also serves as an important reminder of the importance of wearing life jackets while on the water.”
The GoFundMe can be found by searching “In Memory of Andrew — Supporting Lacey & Their Children.” The family is still in the process of planning a memorial service.
