Edgewood Bay celebrates new docks for residents

Edgewood Bay, a waterfront neighborhood along Contrary Creek at Lake Anna, celebrated a recent dock construction project led by LKA Dock Builder and held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 2.

Ed Reed has been a member of the Edgewood Bay Property Owners Association (POA) for over twenty years. He noted the previous docks were at the end of their life, and that while gradually repaired over time, it was time for them to be completely redone.

“Sometimes you’d have a slip and get a boat that didn’t fit so you would have to swap with someone,” Reed said. “[This new dock] is consistent and it’s a great upgrade.”

Chris Casazza is co-owner with LKA Dock Builder. From demo to build, he said the project took 4 months and utilized the same footprint as the previous dock setup. One dock is 150-foot, one is 185-foot, and another is 195-foot, for a total of 77 slips, with the addition of a sun deck.

“We ran through one of the harshest winters we’ve known around here for a while,” Casazza said. “It was challenging, but we welcomed a challenge and pressed on because we knew these folks were going to want to put boats in around this time of year. We’re happy to see it done and see everyone happy about it.”

Katrina Zelonis, the Edgewood Bay Community President, stated that the community came together as a whole to fund the construction of the new docks. There are 111 total lots in the community.

“Discussion wise, this project had been in the works for years,” Zelonis said. “It was all about how to fund it as a community. It really brought us together as a community and it took the community to bring this project to fruition. I want to highlight LKA Dock Builder for their communication, their ease to work with, their quality of build, and their professionalism shown along the way.”
