Louisa County Library, Tuesday, Jan. 17, 24, 31, from 11 a.m. to noon. All parents and caregivers of little ones age 2 and under are welcome to join us for educational songs, reading and play.  Some parent social time included. Older siblings may attend. Louisa County Public Schools will host a substitute teacher workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the LCPS central office. The workshop is mandatory for anyone interested in becoming a substitute teacher for LCPS. Prospective substitutes must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or GED certificate. The Guild is a group of gardening enthusiasts committed to herbal and horticultural education and bringing Louisa County history to life through hands-on experiences. They support Museum programs by putting on demonstrations and hosting workshops, and maintain the Heritage Farm’s herb plot. Members of the public are always welcome to join, and Guild meetings are open to all!

The Louisa County Historical Society is offering a program Thursday, Feb. 2, from 6 to 7 p.m., titled, “Freedmen’s Bureau & Reconstruction in Louisa County.” This will be a virtual presentation by Shannon Christmas, an African American Genealogical thought leader featured on BBC, NPR, the Atlantic, and more. Region 10 Community Services Board offers a REVIVE overdose reversal training course Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. To help address substance use needs during the pandemic, Region Ten is now offering virtual REVIVE training classes. The free training helps friends, family members, and other responders to learn to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. Free Narcan is available to participants who want it after completing the course. Email revive@regionten.org to register and receive a link for the training.

The Louisa Chapter 3049 of AARP has resumed monthly meetings. The Louisa Chapter of AARP meets at 2PM on the second Wednesday of the month in the Social Hall of the Louisa United Methodist Church. The entrance to the hall is on the Woolfolk Ave side of the building. For those members that have trouble with stairs there is a lift to the left as you face the stairs. The next meeting will be on December 14th, all residents age 50 and older are welcome.
