The Virginia Chapter of Breakthrough T1D (Type 1 Diabetes) is hosting a fundraising walk to build community and raise money to cure Type 1 Diabetes for Albemarle, Louisa, Greene, Fluvanna and Nelson counties, as well as the City of Charlottesville. The walk starts at 11 a.m. at Walnut Creek Park (4250 Walnut Creek Park, North Garden). Registration is requested. Belmont Club of Women will hold a Plants and More Yard Sale from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Belmont Community Center, 7124 Belmont Road, Mineral. Select from a wide range of plants from the gardens of Deep Roots Home and Garden Center, including perennials, annuals and other garden favorites. Louisa Extension Master Gardeners will hold a Plant Sale at Mineral Farmers Market from 8:00 a.m. to Noon at 81 Louisa Ave., Mineral. Choose from a variety of Virginia native plants, annuals, perennials, vegetables and house plants. Selection advice available. Proceeds support local Master Gardeners educational programs.

Macedonia Methodist Women’s Group will hold a Free Clothes Closet from 8:00 to Noon. In addition to clothing, shoes, purses, coats, they will have housewares, small appliances, linens and more,ALL FREE to anyone. The event will take place at 17 Byrd Mill Road, Louisa in the social hall.

Mineral Baptist Church (51 Louisa Avenue, Mineral) will host manna & melodies on Sunday, May 3 at 2:00 p.m. It will be an afternoon of youth-led worship, creative arts ministry, and music, praise & fellowship. The potluck luncheon theme will be Mexican foods and attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite dish to share.

Ebenezer United Methodist Church (3092 Oakland Road, Louisa) will hold a Homecoming starting at 10:00 a.m.All are invited to join for worship, song, food and fellowship. The Louisa County Commission on Aging will hold its monthly meeting at 10:00 a.m. at the Betty Queen Center (522 Industrial Drive, Louisa). Thursday, May 7 The 75th Annual National Day of Prayer Community Prayer Service will be held at Noon on the Louisa County courthouse lawn, with live music beginning at 11:30 a.m. This non-denominational service will be led by community leaders and pastors, elected officials and local citizens. In case of rain, the service will be held at New Life Community Church, 509 E. Main Street, Louisa.

Join the Louisa Arts Center for a fun evening of mini golf, community, and friendly competition as they kick off their Birdies for Charity campaign. This special fundraiser helps support arts programming, education, and community events in Louisa. The event will start at 6:00 p.m. at Boardwalk Miniature Golf at LakeAnna (200 Boardwalk Way, Mineral). A raffle will also be held during the event with prizes. Friday, May 8 The 25th Annual Mother Son Dance will be held at Betty Queen Center (522 Industrial Drive A, Louisa) from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The event is designed for boys ages five to 13 and the special motherfigure in their lives. Louisa Community Emergency Fund, Touching Lives in Crisis, will host the annual Bunco/Train Luncheon Fundraiser at Louisa United Methodist Church, 100 E. Main Street, Louisa, beginning at Noon. Enjoy a homemade lunch and then play Bunco dice game or MexicanTrain dominoes with prizes for the high scorers.

Saturday, May 30 A reunion of all Louisa Eagle Scouts is being planned for May 30 at Bowood Barn, Louisa. This reunion is intended to honor Scouting in our community by celebrating people from Louisa who were Scoutmasters and those who have earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in Scouting over the past 70 years.
