Meet CV’s summer freelance correspondent, Robin Perdue

My name is Robin Perdue, and I am incredibly excited to join The Central Virginian this summer! I am a resident of Spotsylvania, Virginia, and grew up spending countless weekends with my friends on Lake Anna and in Downtown Louisa with my family. Many of my best memories are rooted in this community, and I cannot wait to further explore a place that has meant so much to me.
My love for writing comes from a desire to capture those kinds of moments. I am especially drawn to the stories that might otherwise go unnoticed: ones that reflect the character, history and reality of a community. Local journalism, to me, is about preserving what makes a place unique, and I am excited to bring this sentiment to the Louisa area.
I am currently an undergraduate student at the College of William & Mary, where I study Government and Data Science. I serve as News Editor for our student publication, The Flat Hat, where I have had the opportunity to cover campus and local issues and think critically about how stories are approached. Through this experience, I have developed a strong appreciation for comprehensive and accurate reporting that remains thoughtful and community-focused.
This summer, I look forward to bringing that perspective to The Central Virginian. I am eager to meet new people, hear their stories and continue growing into being the strongest reporter I can be. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to learn as a journalist while contributing to a publication that plays such an important role in the region.
