FROM THE MAYOR’S DESK…

DEAR RESIDENTS,

Summer is here, and I’m pleased to share several updates from the Town of Louisa.

Town and Council Updates:

Our Water Main Replacement Project is nearing completion, with thousands of feet of aging lines replaced throughout Town. This investment improves the reliability and safety of our infrastructure for years to come. Thank you for your patience—final paving and resurfacing are expected soon.

Town Council recently appointed Graven Craig and David Purcell to serve as interim Council Members, supporting ongoing Council work during this transition period.

Council has adopted the Fiscal Year 2026– 2027 budget with no increase in Town tax rates. Sewer rates increased slightly due to rising operational costs, while water rates remain unchanged. This balanced budget supports infrastructure, essential services, and future growth while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Community Engagement and Events: We’ve launched an updated Town website with easier access to information and community resources, including recordings of Town Council meetings. I encourage residents to download the Savvy Citizen app and follow the Town of Louisa Facebook page for updates, event details, and announcements.

Our Sunset Markets continue to be a great success, bringing residents and visitors downtown, supporting local businesses, and creating opportunities for vendors while strengthening community connections.

We look forward to our Independence Day Celebration on July 4, beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a parade down Main Street. Festivities at the Fireman’s Fairgrounds will include family activities, local vendors, live entertainment, and fireworks around 9:15 p.m. Please plan for increased traffic, crowds, and noise.

Looking Ahead:

Upcoming events include Summer of Steam excursions (June 26–28 and July 3–5), the Queen Tribute Concert (June 27), National Night Out (August 4), Back-to-School Block Party (August 8), Rolling Stones Tribute (August 29), Labor Day Parade (September 4), Labor Day Festival and Market (September 5), Art on the Lawn (September 12), and the Louisa Arts Center Gala (September 26).

As always, I encourage you to shop local and stay engaged. Louisa continues to thrive because of its strong community.

Sincerely, MAYOR ASHLEY MICHAEL Town of Louisa
