John Jerl Purcell

60TH ANNIVERSARY: LOUISA COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

John Jerl Purcell, Jr. served as the Historical Society’s first and youngest president, at its founding in 1966. John has been witness to major moments in Society history from the founding through the transition of the Museum to the Sargeant Pettit House in 2008. John’s impact can be felt throughout the Museum, whether in documents donated to the archives or in the Purcell Research Library’s establishment. We are grateful to John for his service to the organization! Pictured here are John and his wife, Pat, in front of the Courthouse for the 250th celebration of the Louisa County’s Founding.
