Labor Fest Friday, Saturday
Celebrate Labor Day at Labor Fest, a two-day community event in Louisa. Festivities begin Friday evening with the annual Labor Day Parade down Main Street, Louisa, followed by a fireworks show. On Saturday, enjoy the Louisa Labor Fest at the Louisa County Fairgrounds at Walton Park (628 Louisa Ave., Mineral) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature local vendors, food trucks, family activities and entertainment for all ages.

Fun for Creative Minds meets monthly each 3rd Tuesday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Louisa County Library (881 Davis Hwy, Mineral).

Thursday, August 20 Gilboa Christian Church (6780 Jefferson Highway, Mineral) will hold a Free Community Dinner from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.All are welcome to enjoy pork and chicken BBQ, cole slaw, baked beans, salad, desserts and more.
Clear the Shelters event planned Aug. 29 and more
Louisa County Animal Shelter is once again participating in Clear The Shelters, a nationwide pet adoption campaign aimed at helping shelter animals find loving homes. Suited for the whole family, the event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at 18 Sacred Heart Ave, Mineral. Attendees can expect music, food trucks, a bounce house, vendors, and most importantly, free pet adoptions.

Adult Community Education (ACE) will hold its Annual Pulled Pork BBQ Dinner from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15. All’s fair…and fun!
The 42nd Louisa County Fair was held at Walton Park in the Town of Mineral from July 30 through August 1. At the August 3 Louisa County Board of Supervisors meeting, County Administrator Christian Goodwin said there was a 45% increase in the number of attendees for this year’s fair, which equates to roughly 11,000 people total in attendance.
