REC leaders speak at August meeting
The Belmont Club of Women held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Our guest speakers, Louis O’Berry and Amanda Cooper were from Rappahannock Electric Cooperative with a presentation on Renewable Energy. Rappahannock Electric is a distribution co-operative, which doesn’t own any energy assets, but purchases energy from others. They are 8th or 9th in the nation. Rappahannock Electric is the largest co-op in the area and maintains 17,000 square miles of power lines, etc. They are constantly growing, although it takes time to build the infrastructure. The club had many questions for the presenters, since this is the co-op that they rely upon for their electric service.
