Katie Lou Simmons Bowles, born December 22, 1939, daughter of Patrick Edward Simmons and Audra Wright Simmons, passed away May 9, 2026 at the age of 86 at her home, Dunlora.

Katie was a devoted member of South Anna Baptist Church. She served many years as a Girl Scout Troop leader, carefully teaching and guiding many young ladies of Louisa County. Katie was most proud of her home, Dunlora, built in 1730. She led the restoration of the home in the 1960s and delighted in telling everyone she met about Dunlora‘s history.

Katie was predeceased by her husband, C. Champion Bowles, Jr. and her mother and father. She is survived by her son, Charles Edward Anderson Bowles, two grandsons, Charles Anderson Bowles and Matthew Edward Bowles, her brother, Edward A. Simmons (Sandra), several nieces and nephews and her loving dog, Willie.

Funeral services will be held at South Anna Baptist Church, 9071 Cross County Rd., Mineral, Virginia, on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11 AM with visitation at 10 AM. Burial will be immediately following the service at the church.
