AMARA COMFORT

CLASS PRESIDENT

Good evening everyone, my name is Amara Comfort… and I am honored to stand before you as the Class of 2026 senior class president.

At the beginning of this school year, if you asked me about my plans after graduation, you probably would have gotten a pretty stoic response of: “I don’t know… I haven’t really thought about it.”

But the truth is, it was the only thing I could think about…. I was terrified about what was next, and I think that fear came from something deeper than just being scared of change.

It came from realizing how much of an impact this place has truly had on me….. Because somewhere between the football games, late-night studying, spirit week, tough days, wins and losses, and all the little moments in between… this school became a home.

Because when we look back on high school years from now, most of us won’t remember every assignment or test. We’ll remember the people, the lunch table conversations, the inside jokes, the people who supported us through the difficult moments, and the friendships that made this place feel like home.

And maybe what makes that so difficult is that we aren’t just leaving the building behind itself… but leaving behind those who filled it with meaning.

I think senior year has helped a lot of us realize just how fast time really moves. One moment we were underclassmen walking into this building trying to figure out where our classes are, and now we’re sitting here preparing to leave it all behind.

And while tonight is a celebration of the Class of 2026… it’s also a reflection of the people who helped us get here.

The teachers, our parents, friends, and families have been with us through every stage of this journey…. They’ve been there for the early mornings, the late nights, the practices, the games, the performances, the stressful moments, and the days when we doubted ourselves.

They celebrated our achievements no matter how small, but most importantly, they stood beside us during the moments that were difficult…. And I think sometimes we forget that while we were growing up, they were learning how to let us grow too…. They taught us how to stand up when we fell down… because they understood that the moments that would challenge us were never as far away as we thought.

So tonight, on behalf of the Class of 2026, I want to say thank you…. Thank you for believing in us even before we fully believed in ourselves. We love you and couldn’t have done it without you.
