David Lee Anderson, born July 19, 1958,to Willy Lee and Dora Anderson, peacefully left his earthly home on June 13, 2026.

David worked in various fields throughout his life and touched many lives through the friendships he built along the way. He found his greatest joy operating his sawmill and tending his cows. In his free time, he loved hunting, fishing and exploring the back roads of West Virginia, as well as traveling anywhere through the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains.

David is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn; daughter, Nicole; son, Shawn; grandchildren, Faith, Hope, Zachary, Paige, and Colton; stepchildren, Maegan, Reid, and Riley; and step-granddaughters, Charlee-Ann and Malorie. He also leaves behind his sisters, Tricia, Lisa, Chris, Becky, and many extended family members and friends.

No matter where David went, he either reconnected with an old friend or made a new one. He cherished the nurses who cared for him and looked forward to his visits to UVA, always greeting them with warmth, gratitude and a big smile.

Although many knew him as a grumpy old man, David’s life was marked by friendship, adventure, and a love for the people and places that mattered most to him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends at Earlyhouse, 3998 Yanceyville Rd. on Saturday, 20th, 12-3 for a celebration of life.
