Allan Russell Anderson

Dec 15, 1943 – Jun 5, 2026

Allan “Andy” Anderson passed away on June 5, 2026, in Ormond Beach, Florida.

Born on December 15, 1943, in Washington, D.C. to Russell and Dorothy Anderson, Andy lived a life filled with family, and laughter. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; his six children, Penny Vandygriff, Allan Anderson, Cathy Lambert, Dottie Swanson, Melissa Dafforn, and Robin Bartel; his brother, Larry Anderson; his sister, Brenda Anderson; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Debbie Bennett.

Andy was president of Anderson Excavating and Paving, the family business, before opening Trevilians Salvage Yard. He believed in hard work, fixing things instead of replacing them, and never throwing away something that might be useful someday.

For many years, Andy called Blue Ridge Shores in Louisa, Virginia, home before retiring to Ormond Beach, Florida. His yard was filled with garden sculptures, wind chimes, and enough solar lights to brighten the neighborhood. It reflected exactly who he was: colorful, unique, and impossible to forget.

Andy loved bowling, NASCAR, the Washington Redskins, and the Washington Nationals. Christmas was Andy’s favorite season, and he never outgrew its magic. He had a legendary sweet tooth, a quick wit, and a silly sense of humor.

His family will miss him dearly and cherish the many memories he leaves behind.

A celebration of Andy’s life will be held on July 25, 2026, in Ormond Beach, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to plant something beautiful, eat your favorite candy, or hang an extra string of lights in Andy’s honor.
