Hiter, Harry Montague “Monty” Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 19, 2026, at the age of 84. Monty was preceded in death by his parents Harry M. Hiter and Lucy Earl Kennon, Daughter in law Shirley Hiter, Granddaughter Jennifer Wood and Grandson Nicholas DiMartino, Sister Joyce Sacra, Brother William “Frankie” Hiter. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Catherine Heflin Hiter and their blended family: Daughter Carmen DiMartino, Sons Christopher DiMartino (Janet), Tommy Vipperman (Jan), Jimmy Vipperman (Angela), Harry Hiter, III. Grandchildren Josh Vipperman, Brittany Rollogas (Nick), Stephanie Vipperman, Emily Carter (Travis), Tyler Vipperman, Joey Vipperman (Ashley), Julia Courtney (Griffin), Jessica Prins (Sam). Great Grandchildren Camden Vipperman, Beau Carter, Madelynn Prins, Beckham Carter. His Brothers Jimmy Hiter (Dot), Gerald Hiter (Betty Rae) and many Nieces and Nephews.

Monty was a Maintenance Mechanic; he worked for several companies during his career, starting with the Naval Shipyard in Newport News Virginia and ending when he retired from Meadwestvaco in Louisa Virginia.

Monty was a man of deep faith in Jesus Christ, and that faith carried him through every season of life. He was one of the kindest souls you could ever meet- always ready with a warm smile, a helping hand, and a loving heart. He touched the lives of so many people through his compassion, generosity, and unwavering love for his family.

Monty found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time with his beloved cats, cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers, and watching court tv. These everyday simple interests brought him happiness and were a cherished part of his life. Above all, Monty loved his family deeply. He cherished every moment spent with those he loved and found his greatest joy in being a father, grandfather, and a friend.

There will be a celebration of His Life at New Life Community Church on July 25, 2026, at 10:00am.
