TC Dickerson, III

“There will come a time when you believe everything is finished; that will be the beginning.” Louis L’Amour Taliaferro Crawford Dickerson III died July 31, 2026. Born November 7, 1936 in Newport News, Virginia. He was the son of T.C. JR and Marguerite Rutherford Dickerson. Dr. Dickerson was a retired Superintendent of Schools; an Eagle Scout remaining active for 72 years; a member of Widow’s Sons’ Lodge No. 60 (Freemasons); and member & Past Senior Warden of All Saints Anglican Church. TC graduated from VPI, UVA, and NOVA Southeastern University. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Sarah Hurt Friend Dickerson, also his son, James Dickerson (Karen), daughter Elizabeth Franklin (John), and Franklin grandchildren Davis (Bridget), Jack (Olivia), and Carter. There are two great grandchildren James and Elizabeth Franklin. T.C. was a Virginia Gentleman known for his kindness, honesty, integrity, and humility.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge on Saturday, August 8th at 2:00 PM with Masonic Rites. Internment will be in Chatham, Virginia at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the WCBR Foundation at 250 Pantops Mtn Rd, Charlottesville, Virginia 22911 or Louisa Education Foundation, PO Box 1195, Louisa, Virginia 23093.
