Harold C. Raines, 77, of Palmyra, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026, at UVA.

Harold was born on September 28, 1949, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to Horace Raymond Raines and Hellen Freda Raines. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, June Raines; and his daughter, Tamara Mays.

Harold was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He retired from UVA Vending after many years of dedicated service and also worked on a farm. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke and tease those around him. Those who knew him understood that his teasing was always offered with love and good humor.

His family meant the world to him, and he was the kind of man who would do anything for anyone. His kindness, generosity, humor, and willingness to help others will be deeply missed. Harold leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and the love of a family and community who will never forget him.

Harold is survived by his loving wife, Donna Raines; his stepdaughter, Kelly Aley and her husband, Chris; and his son-in-law, Robert Mays.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Caleb Mays and his wife, Caitlin; Cameron Mays and his wife, Autumn; Laryssa Powell and her husband, Gavin; Carter Aley; and Peyton Aley; and his great-grandchildren, Cody and Charlie.

Harold is also survived by his sisters, Becky Sullivan and her husband, Gene; Liz Johnson and her husband, Irvin; and Susan, as well as many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.

The family extends a special thank-you to Brian, Kay, and Leesie for their love, care, and support.
