Lake Anna State Park drowning victim identified
Spotsylvania authorities are investigating a fatal drowning that occurred at Lake Anna State Park on June 4. The man was recently identified as Ahmad Fawad Sataryaar, 37, of Falls Church.
According to the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, visitors at the park located an adult male submerged in roughly 10 feet of water and found him unresponsive. Park Rangers, assisted by several bystanders, entered the water to recover the man and began emergency resuscitation efforts.
First responders arrived shortly afterward and continued lifesaving measures. Despite those efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the DCR, the beach at Lake Anna State Park has since reopened.
