Mary Leighton O’Connell, 75, of Bumpass, VA, died Saturday, March 28, 2026.

She was born October 15, 1950, in Richmond, VA, to the late Joseph Plunkett Myers III and Elizabeth Leighton Shackleford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Walter Myers, Daniel Rembert Myers and Kevin John Myers.

She is survived by husband Joseph Gerard O’Connell, 2 children, Shawn Patrick O’Connell and Megan Daly O’Connell and her husband Ben Wroblewski, 1 brother, Joseph Plunkett Myers IV and his wife, Laurie, and 3 sisters Jayne Marie Myers Smith, Helen Overmann Myers Lambert and Patricia Elaine Myers Jeter and her husband Earl (Rusty). and 2 sisters-in-laws Lisa Myers and Anne Gray, 1 grandchild, Maya Lyra Angelina Worden.

The family will receive friends at Immaculate Conception Church, 1107 Fredericks Hall Road, Bumpass, VA, on Monday, April 6th, from 6 pm to 8pm with the Rosary at 6:00pm. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 7th, at 11am follow by interment in the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Immaculate Conception Church Backpack Program Fund, 1937 Davis Highway, Mineral, VA.

Arrangements are being handled by the Woodward Funeral Home in Louisa.
