Supervisors appropriate $33 million for water plant upgrades
The Louisa County Board of Supervisors (BoS) unanimously approved a resolution authorizing a budget supplement of $33,000,000 to design and construct water treatment plant process upgrades at the Ferncliff Water Treatment Plant and to upgrade the New Bridge Wastewater Treatment Plant at the April 6 meeting.

William L. French (CDR USN ,RET) passed away peacefully and joined his creator on Wednesday, 25 March 2026 at the age of 96. He was preceded in death by his parents, William L. and Audrey French; his first wife, Barbara H. French; his son, William L. French Jr.; and two granddaughters.

Lawrence Allen Martin, of Culpeper, VA, passed away on March 29, 2026, at the age of 74 due to complications from acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
Judith Turney Greene

Judith Turney Greene was called home to meet her heavenly father on March 16, 2026. The daughter of Raymond and Lena Knott Turney, she was born August 7, 1948 in Charles County, MD but grew up in Mineral. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: Gerald, Donald, Charlie and Wayne Turney and sisters Alice and Lynn Greene.

Jane Pendleton Wootton, MD

Dr. Jane Pendleton Wootton, 86, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, after a long illness. She was born on April 21, 1939, in the village of Cuckoo in Louisa County, Virginia, to Eugene Barbour “Bob” Pendleton, Jr. and Mildred “Millie” (McLean) Pendleton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved granddaughter, Eleanor “Ella” Pendleton White, her brother- in-law, Hugh Campbell, and her husband’s siblings and spouses: Captain James Wootton, USN-Ret (Jean), Sadie Brightwell (W.R.), Ella Gammon (Turner), Byrd Garnett (James), Becky Edwards (John), Ruth Fraker (Turnley), Martha Timberlake (Ben), and Bob Wootton (Frances). She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Dr. Percy Wootton; her daughters, Jane Meredith Wootton of Cuckoo, Virginia; Anne Wootton White (Alex) of Spring Hill, Tennessee; her son, Madison Pendleton Wootton (Sarah) of Richmond, Virginia; and five grandchildren: Mason Cromwell White, Frances “Frankie” Eleanor Wootton White, John Madison Wootton, Lucy Kellogg Wootton, and Henry Lawrence Wootton. She is also survived by her four dear sisters and their families: Sally Campbell, Nancy Wheeler (Chuck), Susan Hayden, Tina Ward (Dan); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
